Hi All!

I am currently working on a database on the subject above.

I am trying to collect the histories of as many Aussie fighter pilots as possible.

While much has been written about the aces, I have found there are many amazing stories amoungst those who did not reach that status.

If you can assist with my research please contact me at mickq@dodo.com.au

Welcome to the forums, MickQ !

That's a worthwhile project indeed - the efforts of Australian and NZ pilots are often overlooked.

He probably doesn't 'count' for your research as he was most definitely an 'ace' in the truest sense of the word, but a personal favourite of mine is 'Pat' Hughes DFC of 234 Squadron. In a tragically short period of the Battle of Britain ( he was killed September 7th, 1940 ), Pat was credited with seven enemy aircraft destroyed.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the welcome.

Yes Pat Hughes was an extraordinary man and a great loss. I have quite a large page on him in my database.

I hope to post it on the web soon, so that all can enjoy, I'll keep you posted.

Cheers

Mick
