John Baskeyfield was born in Burslem, hence he is a son of the Potteries district. Also a statue was erected, depicting him in action, at Festival Heights, in Stoke. The only memorial to a non-commissioned soldier in Great Britain.

With this amount of local interest, I’d guest one (or maybe more) pottery produced a plate of their ‘local’ hero. Equally it may have been an order from the memorial sculpture (Steven Whyte) to promote the statue or by the Council for the unveiling?

Edwardian Fine Bone China are a modern pottery mainly dealing in economic promotional and souvenir items. http://www.edwardianchina.co.uk/

Guess value about £8-£10, should increase modestly in time.

Wherever there's a nice little earner my son!

Didn't find too much in Italy last month. A very nice heavy leather tooled belt for Eu.5 and a Soviet flap-over holster for a large automatic, complete with spare magazine compartment and brass pull-through rod. The holster was unmarked and had the military stamp inside the flat.
The woman on the stall said she was a poor trader from Poland and had to have Eu.20.

I shed a tear told her Eu.20 buys a tank in Poland and gave her 10.
