Cool

Anybody know the story behind the song? Was it ordered by Goebbels? Göring? Other?

I think you can hear it on this site ( the computer I´m working with now has no sound ):

It was composed by Norbert Schultze ( 1911 - 2002 ) who also set the poem 'Lili Marleen' to music in 1938. He was involved with writing film music in the '30s and was due to be called up for infantry service in 1939 when senior German officials decided that his talents could be better used in the Propoganda Ministry.

'Bomben' was his own work and was very popular in Germany at the time of the 'Blitz' but in later life he regetted the sentiment of the song.

Thanx Martin!

I have heard the song before but I was watching a document on Battle of Britain and the song was introduced as something that the German pilots were tired of hearing again and again...Maybe the battle not going so well had somethign to do with it as well.Thanx again.
