Alan T Botfield is an unknown quantity at this point
I am trying to research the above unit upto and including D-Day 1944 and trace a Sgt in this unit.
The story is I have a shell case with cap badges fixed to it. On stripping down for cleaning a letter was found inside! The letter reads "To whom it may concern:-These badges were collected by Toni who was working at the evacuation of Dunkirk, from men who got through. the lamp was made by George from a 25lb shell case just before the invasion of the Continent. Signed by:-G.L.Thomas. Sgt. 16th Batt 12 Field Regiment, Canadian Artillery 1944 and T.W.Meade(Toni) the future Mrs. Thomas."
Does anyone know of a museum or association for Vets for this unit or where I could trace Sgt. G.L.Thomas.Any advice would be appreciated.
Alan
