I recall reading somewhere that the formalities between officers and enlisted men were different in the SS and Wehrmacht - anyone have any info on this - I recall a web site - I think it was a reinactment site - that discussed the differences. Thanks.

Yes there were slight differences in order to bring a bond of close comradeship. I believe 'Herr' was dropped when talikng to an officer, his rank being enough respect when addressing him. No locks on lockers and stuff like that. They aimed to bring the men close together to help foster the sense of Esprit du corps.

The flip side is that British officers who found photos on dead Germans, often wondered over German sexuality... I am sure Mahross will remember the Normandy incident, at Baron, better than me...
