Cool

can anyone help me with decrypting my wifes grandfathers war record. Recently i did my grandfathers war record and you guys really helped me out, so if you could help again i would be grateful. He was a royal marine and all we know is that he served in africa and india, on his record are what i think are abbreviations of his units and if you could help me i can then go on to see where these units served. if anyone can decypher the following.....(HBL.MNBDO) (IBL 5AA Bde) sorry to be so vague but as im sure you know these records are not that clear

5th RM AA Brigade was formed from units the two MNBDOs, and was for service under 21st Army Group in North West Europe.

From the quick look I had last nite the Brigade landed at some point after D-Day and participated in the liberation of North-West Europe.

I have more info on the MNBDOs than 5th AA Bde.

It's always nice to see a Forums member learn more about the veterans in their family with the assistance of another Forums member. Good work Red! Kudos to you Steven for asking the question and wanting to know more about your wife's Grandfather's service.
