I have got a picture of a soldier )watercolour). Along with the picture are the following medals, George Star, French Star, War Medal & Defence medal. There is also a cloth badge/insignia. I was hoping to find out what regiment the soldier beonged to. The insignia is of an armoured clenched fist (silver color). There is also a rectangle badge/insignia in red white and blue. The white and blue anre triangular and the red is just a stripe. I do have a picture which I can email to anyone who can help. The watercolour was painted by Oscar Hay FRSA (in Colchester)

It sounds like the badge is for the Royal Armored corps. If the mailed fist is vertical with a circular surround topped by small arrowheads and the whole thing is topped by a crown then that is the badge.
The other badge you describe sounds like one of the hourglass symbols used by various Army Tank Brigades. But, the color combination is not familiar to me so I cannot say which brigade it might be.
That's the best I can do from the description you give alone.

Here is a photo of the entire image I was sent. It was a little large, so I scaled it down.:

Here are close ups pf the two main features on the plaque, upper and lower:

It is indeed the mailed fist of the 6th Armoured. Here is a cleaner image of another similar badge on the web.
