Maybe one of you web surfing, stay up all night, types could help me find a site or two that lists the lenght (base) and magnification of various naval ship gun rangefinders. Either or both would be helpful...particularly the maginfication of these.
Yea, as usual its a unusual and esoteric request but I need this information for an article I want to write. Aside from that don't you want to know if the Bismarck's rangefinders were really "better" than those on British ships?

I wish you had asked 20 years ago and I could have let you talk to a man who was a range finder in the Pacific. A guy where I worked did this in WWII but cancer got him in 1987.
