www.bismarck-class.dk/hilfskreuzer/hilfskreuzer_introduction.html
www.ahoy.tk-jk.net/macslog/MaraudersoftheSea2GermanA.html
several German sites :
www.seekrieg.de www.deutsches-marinearchiv.de
In Deutsche almost every one of the Merchant radiers has been covered by at least one author.
sone of my favourites is :
Mohr und Sellwood's "Ship 16" copyright 1956. Raider Atlantis. It has aappeared in many years since that 50's copy of mine.
"Nachtjagdleitschiff TOGO" bei Kurt Petsch, Preußischer Militär=Verlag
S.D Waters "German Raiders in the Pacific" by Merriam Press, copyright 2000
August Karl Muggenthaler "German Raiders of WW II" by Prentice Hall, copyright 1977, still found on Amazon.
Naval Institute Press from Annopalis Maryland recently or at least within the last 3 years published a book on the Atlantis with much indepth research, some of it newly discovered.
there is obviously more

any questions on the Raiders in particular ?
am actually looking for the book on the Orion without paying a hefty fee and also the Komoron memories where she sank the HMS Sydney in a very bizarre and almost unknow sea duel, the Sydney went off with fires and explosions and was enver seen again with loss of all her crew, the Komoron was lost with some 300 plus survivors picked up and interned in Australia. Several web-sites cover that strange sea battle.
here is a table of the tonnage sunk by the existing German craft

Main area the heavily armed merchants operating in the Atlantic and Med. (if they operated in the Med.) number of armed merchants ships results and what happen to them. A very good history of these crafty ships.

nothing in the Med except Kemnades Schnellboot 3. Flottille which was very effective.
Nearly all ship kills for the Raiders was SW of Afrika and near and around Australia for the most part. The "Widders" kills were grouped to the west of Afrika, all 10 of them so close to Cuba/Haiti, so the history of that craft might be of interst to you.
13 June 1940 to September 9, 1940, the last date: the 10th ship sunk, the Antonios Chandris NE of South America. Evidently the "Widder" was a mechanical nightmare for it's crew.

Richard I would still advise finding a book on the Atlantis for some first hand acct.'s and the pics. It is probably the most written about raider.
keep at it.

I agree Erich websites are a good stop gap while I look around for a book. After all you can not beat a good book to read.

just remember that the information on the net was done through research from former vets, and much archival documentation plus BOOKS.
Richard do you understand German at all ?
