Can anyone help place the 583 Field Company Royal Engineers. I cant find which Division they were attached to during and after D-Day.

If you can't find them in any order of battle I suspect your best bet will be to visit the NA to look at the unit's war diary..this will help you track down Brigades etc....

They would serve in an active area, that is the job of a RE Field Company. I looked through my wae papers, cannot find them. That means nothing. Most Fld Cos are Divisional.

Mine was 246 Field Company RE. Eighth Brigade.
Third British Infantry Division.
