I know D4 means also part of Gestapo
( department of occupied territories,D4= western territories )

But in a book I read that the SS organisation used this code for the supply road from central Russia which was to serve the SS only and make it richer and richer. Anyone know more or read of the same thing?

Seems like Himmler had plans to gather goods for his organisation and perhaps in time win the battle with Wehrmacht as well?? Didn´t Himmler speak or hint of the future of SS as "nation within a nation"?

I had never heard of these detail but with all the organisational mess (and you can write MESS with capitals) that the occupation was I'm not surprised. Where did you get this info on this particular road?

That was on Perry Pierik´s From Leningrad to Berlin, Za:
