Cool

Back in April 1945 we know of Steiner, Busse´s 9th Army and Wenck´s 12th army. However I just read in the memoirs by Bernd Freytag von Loringhoven saying that Army Group Holste was also there ( north-west?) and it seems General Rudolf Holste replaced Steiner before the war ended as well.

Anyone read more of the General and the Army Group? How many tanks and men did they have? How could they have helped Berlin? Or could they?

Thanx!

Not sure about that Kai. Lieutenant General Holste commanded XXXXI Panzer Corps during the Battle of Halbe, which came under Wenck's 12th Army. I suppose if Busse was removed from command, something which I can't find a reference too, then as a corps commander Holste may have taken over 9th Army.

Ok. Thanx Mahross.

Maybe that was just another gossip going around.

I just have read four memoirs starting from the levels of Hitler Jugend to SS-soldiers and even at the highest level in Bunker who were in Berlin and after 20th April 1945 there seems to have been very powerful rumours that the Western allied had declared war on the Soviets and that even Churchill was signing the new deal in Berlin with Hitler. I guess being desperate can make people believe anything...
