Trying to find more info on my great grandfather.
T/Sgt. Henry Green Lake
Went into orientation in Ft. Bragg on June 9th, 1941 with the Thirty-Ninth Inf.
Here is part of his obituary. Unfortunately I was about 1 yr. old when he died.

Born October 13, 1917 in Panola, Kentucky Mr Lake entered the army on September 12, 1940. He served in Germany under General George S. Patton’s Command during World War II. And was discharged from the army on June 28, 1945. He entered the Air Force on June 19, 1947. and served in Korea during the Korean War. He also saw active duty at Ft. Bragg. North Caroline, Alaska, Briggs AFB, El Paso, Texas Forbes AFB , Topeka, Kansas, Bergstrom AFB, Austin, Texas Luke AFB, Arizone, Albrook AFB, Panama Canal Zone, and Schilling AFB, Salina Kansas. He retired from the air force at McConnell AFB Wichita, Kansas May 31, 1966 During his in the service he received the Bronze Star, E.A.M.E. Campaing Ribbon with six Bronze Stars, Purple Heart with one oak leaf cluster, Good Conduct Medal with three bronze loops, American Defense Medal, and National Defense Medal. Mr. Lake Worked at the Travis State School From 1966 to 1984, Before retiring to Manor, Texas.

He brought back an Iron Cross (1918 marked), nazi stamped mess kit, and a few other things that I can't remember.
