Cool

I've just been reading the blurb on a new book- The Longest Night by Gavin Mortimer. This is another recounting of the Blitz, but a strange thing was mentioned. It was stated that there still remain wartime air raid shelters in London which were sealed with the victim's bodies still inside. I've NEVER heard of this before- and to be honest I find it extremely unlikely- but you never know.
Anyone got any more info on this story-Martin?

I don't have any hard information, Gordon, but it sounds distinctly unlikely to me ( a polite way of saying that it sounds like a load of b***s ). It certainly happened in many German cities where the bombing was of course on a vastly greater scale.

I'm sure that 'After The Battle' would have discovered such events if they had happened, and I can't remember seeing anything in their 3 'Blitz' volumes about this.

Cheers Martin, I thought as much. The only place I could think of it happening was when the Allies bombed the V2 site at Eperlecque, and a direct hit on a shelter used by Belgian forced labourers effectively buried them alive.
