Default Little known German Generals of WWII

I'm looking for books about little known German Generals of WWII. I was considering doing a paper or such about them. There are some like Balck, that I can find only cursory information on. Anything would help.

Thanks,

Bill

Steen Ammentorp's excellent Generals of WW2 site should be the best start you could possibly have.
Cheers,
Adam.

Default Yep

I have visited that site, and it gives a general time line as to what commands the Generals had. A good start yes!

Thanks,

Bill

This site is OK if your just beginning to look for German Generals names. Sadly though, they come nowhere near as close as another site I know of which is in German if I remember correctly? I don/t have its URL handy but will try looking for it. Anyway, this particular site also had many many many thumbnail photos of many many many of the Generals on their list. Also, what I think is really great about that site, they also have some of the awards these Generals earned, placed by their names. Their list is extensive but still not near complete.

And if your really interested in a great list of all General officers including Waffen SS, Luftwaffe, Police; get the book (if you can find a copy - and if you do, it could set you back about $400.00) German Order of Battle WWII. It is an oop title but well worth having.

Also, if you want some interesting and very unknown German Generals names, just ask me, I did a list myself of German general/admiral officers who won the KC. I also have a seperate list of General/Admiral officers who did not win the KC.

Let me know and i'll send you a selection of names to start with as well as several names that I came up with doing research of officers who made the rank of Generalmajor before war's end - that are not on any list that I am aware of. Also, my list is not 100% complete and I doubt it ever will be.

Here is the site I like the most even though they are nowhere near complete either but, IMO, are much better that the other posted site.

If the link I post here is not working for some reason, there are two other ways to get to that site.

http://home.wxs.nl/~j.n.houterman/bi...n/heerG.htm#gu

if that does not work, go to:

www.das-ritterkreuz.de
click on links and than go to Biographien and click it
then go to, Generale und Admirale and click it,
then go to Generale des heeres 1939-1945 and click it, and then you will be taken to a page that has them listed in alphabetical order. Click on anything that is in the blue color and you will be taken to a page that has thumbnail photos of the majority of the generals along with some of their higher decorations posted by their name and some info. This list is not complete but it is a much better list than I have seen anywhere including the one on the TRF site.

I forgot to mention, if all these fail, then go to Google search engine and type in: Generale des Heeres 1939-1945 and click and it (at least as of now) will be the first link on the first page.
