Default Re: All-Arms Formations?

Thread moved to Information Requests and a question mark added to the title.

From my meager experience, an all-arms formations is pretty much what it sounds like, a formation with a full complement of vehicles, troops and weaponry designed to deal with anything that might arise on the battlefield. A fully-equipped german panzer division is a good example; armor, assault guns, artillery, infantry (often mechanized), anti-aircraft & anti-tank sections, combat engineers, etc. Many armies compartmentalized their units into different sections, but some German units of WWII typically became all-arms formations out of necessity, such as some of Rommel's formations in North Arfica. I'm sure others can add a lot more to this.
