Default local area bomb damage info

Were most bomb drops/damage recoreded during the war, I would be fascinated to know If it was, and also know where to begin the research to find out what happened in my local area during the war, Locally we had many AA Batterys as My villiage was classified as being in the MERSEY area for AA guns. In fact would i also be able to find out any detailed info about the local AA batterys?

Steve,
The National Archives in Scotland have a bombing survey recording where all bombs dropped up here landed. Entries are made by county on large scale maps.
I imagine the NA at Kew has something similar for England and Wales, but can't remember which file series it's likely to be in.
If you can get hold of the book AA Command by Colin Dobinson, that has a gazetteer listing all the AA sites in the Merseyside Gun Defended Area, or go to the Defence of Britain project database ( http://ads.ahds.ac.uk/catalogue/coll...blurbs/324.cfm ).

Gordon is correct - the National Archives at Kew has records and maps relating to bombing in England WW2, and there's a useful leaflet at http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/c...sLeafletID=344 called "Ministry of Home Security Bomb Census Survey 1940-1945".
