Default 466th PFAB

Need some help please. Sgt X's Ike jacket has the 101st Airborne patch on his left and the 1st Allied Airborne patch on his right and Artillery insignia. However on his discharge paper it states Battery B 466th PFAB.
He was in from Nov 42 to Jan 46. Has 3 bronze stars and 1 arrowhead on his Eur. ribbon and 1 bronze star on his Jump wing.
The 466th was with the 17th Airborne plus I can not find any indepth info on the 466th. Did he get put in the 466th at the end of WW2 ?
Thanks for any help.

As the US was drawing down after the war, it was not uncommon for units to be disbanded in theater and the soldiers placed in other units for transport home. The unit he was discharged from has no bearing on the unit(s) in which served.

Thumbs up Re: 466th PFAB

This is good info Slip, thanks! I hope you don't mind Nailbender, but I'm going to move it to the Military Service Forum, where it seems to fit better.
