Default Searching for the name of an Italian soldier

Hey all, I have recently purchased a M33 italian helmet from a yard sale, after cleaning off decades of dust, and mud, I noticed a signature on the inside of the helmet. I can make out some of it, but I would love to know if there is any way I could get a hold of a list of all the Italian soldier that fought in the war, or information on how I might get that?

Sure thing just give me 15 minutes.

Sorry for the sarcasm BKR, but that is quite a tall order. I don't think there will ever be such a list, especially considering the fog of war.

First of all, congrats of the nice buy, sounds like you picked up a real great deal! Probably the best thing to do is start with the portion of the name you have and go that route, even if it's a partial name it would be simpler than trying to obtain a list of the entire Italian armed forces.

What is the name in the helmet? It just might be someone notable, or searchable.

And welcome to the WWII Forums!

haha, yea I didn't think it would be as simple as that. I have the complete full name, it's Giusepp(e) or Giusepp(i), and the last name is a little harder. it either Pliadore, Liadore, I'm gonna take some pictures and try to post them. If anyone has any idea who this gentleman is, or has a name that closely resembles that, i would love to hear it!

Thumbs up Re: Searching for the name of an Italian soldier

The first name would certainly be "Giuseppe" as "Giuseppi" isn't an proper Italian name. If anything it is the plural or Giuseppe, sort of like Joes or Mikes, so it not likely. As for the surname, both Pliadore and Liadore don't sound all that common, so you might actually have a chance at finding something. Good luck!
