Question US Development and Application of Doctrine

Having studied the British and the Germans in their Development and application of doctrine for their Armies, the turn has come for the Americans.

My knowledge on this subject is extremely slim and I wondered if somebody could give me a push?

Jaeger:

By saying "Armies," are you including or excluding naval doctrine?

The US Army centre for Military history is probably well worth a look, particularly the bookshelves section.
There's a document called 'Command decisions' on this page that looks like it might be an interesting place to start & the 'Ground forces studies' also seem relevant.
Quote:
The Army Ground Forces Studies (AGF) were prepared during the course of World War II and published immediately thereafter. The objective was to give an account of wartime activities from the Command's perspective, presenting the difficulties, lessons and mistakes uncovered in its operations.
The site's been 'upgraded' since I last visited and it seems to still be in progress, some documents don't appear to open on first click but always seem to on the second.

Hope that's of some use.

Cheers,
Adam.

Von Poop:
Thank you, seems I'll be stuck on the net for a while.

Jaeger,
This has just been posted on ww2talk and looks like it could be very handy in discovering what lessons were being learnt and how information was passed onto the troops in the field:

Field Artillery Journal

Complete transcription of every issue of the US 'Field artillery Journal' from 1911 to 2007.

I'd recommend it to any other ww2 nut too, absolutely fascinating and packed with all sorts of detail, both major and minor.
Full credit for it's discovery to 'Wessex Wyvern' .

Cheers,
Adam.
