I've decided to start work on my 'Facing the Bear' Novel, that is to say that I am now going to turn the movie script i wrote about a year or two ago called 'Facing the Bear' into a Novel, as that was my original idea. In a nutshell, it follows fictional characters in a real unit (44th Infantry Division, 'Hoch und Deutchmeister') as they travel through Poland, France, Russia, and Italy. The movie script follows the specific character solely through Russia (to the Battle of Stalingrad) after a brief stint in training camp.

I am either going to strictly follow the movie script, or make it a series (Poland + France, Russia, Russia-Italy-Surrender).

So, my question is, where can i find information about what life was like in Vienna in the 1930's and 1940's? I need to be able to depict a realistic scene as we meet the main character.
