Default Anybody know this regiment??

I am trying to find out any information I can regarding my grandad. Unfortunately I have no information about his service and don't even know what regiment he was in. I have tried looking for the badge that is on his arm but to no avail. I know he was called up for national service and was a POW in burma. He was living in horsham, sussex at the time.

Can anyone help. Picture attached.

Thanks very much
julie

Looks like Royal Artillery to me.
Going by the cap badge.
The badge on top of the arm looks like one of the Anti-Aircraft Command badges.
Not sure which one yet.

Click >>> Ackack

5th Anti-Aircraft Division
The badge was a falling bomber with five flames. 5th Division was raised in 1938 and was composed of T.A. A.A. Brigades R.A., and A.A. Battalions R.E. drawn from the Home Counties, the South and West of England, with a few units from the County of London. Divisonal Headquarters were at Reading.

This link shows which units made up the 5th AA Division, some are TA units from Sussex.

RA 39-45 5 AA Div

Now you know he's Royal Artillery maybe worth trying to get his Service Records.

Good stuff again, Wessex. I tried to ID the badges but could for the life of me not figure out what they were. Well done!

This is the only other picture that I have. Unfortunately, it shows less detail than the other one.

Least we know he was a Lance-Bombardier then.
