Planned Europe trip help
I am travelling to Europe from Australia in 2008 and want to take some good 'then and now' phto's. Can anyone provide me with links to any good sites with then and now photo's? I have viewed Geoff Walderns 'Third Reich in Ruins' and it is great. I will be spending a couple of days in Belgium/Luxembourg, Normandy, Arnhem, Berlin, Warsaw, Prague and Munich (for Oktoberfest!). I know a lot of people take these photo's and i find them fascinating! Thanks in advance.

Re: Planned Europe trip help
Without wishing to blow our own trumpet, this site has some of the most interesting 'Then & Nows' which I know of online....
Really, the best thing to do is to arm yourself with some of the truly incomparable 'After The Battle' books or magazines to get the very best from your journey...

Hi Tobruk Rat
Just a couple of suggestions
1. The famous Burger Brau Keller in Munich,
see: BBC - WW2 People's War - The infamous Burger Brau Keller in Munich
2. If you are visiting Belgium the area around the coastal town of La Panne is noted for its WW2 Sites
3. Prague is very WW2 history minded and there are many places to visit.
4. You have already started a very memory provoking list and therefore I will not attempt to teach you how to suck eggs but having recently returned to Trieste & Venice to visit wartime sites I feel obliged to state the obvious .
It is my experience that time spent on GOOGLING is never wasted and you should immediately start what will eventually become a bloody big folder on all the areas you plan to visit.
Enjoy !
Ron

Re: Planned Europe trip help
In Münich I stayed at the Thallkirchen camping. It's full of Oktoberfest fans . If you like parties go there. Plenty of South Africans , Aussies sand Kiwis there too. I met a Scottish guy with a kilt, an Englishman dressed like Robin Hood. It was nuts but excellent. Thallkirchen is not far from the Zoo and withing walking distance of the centre. You will need to check if it's still around because I was there a few years ago.

Re: Planned Europe trip help
We'd love to see them. Our favourites are "now" and "thens" comparisons. Martin is our specialist.
