Default MTC Mechanised Transport Corps

Hi

I'm trying to collect together information about the women who volunteered during WWII with the MTC.

It seems that because they were a 'private enterprise' that there is no official history of their contribution.

For instance one group of women who drove ambulances in France were later recognised by the French government. Other groups drove in Syria, Palestine and Egypt as well as in and around London.

So if any one has memories of their mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, family friend etc., please could you post them to this forum, or you could add a comment at the blog I have set up to try and collect info before it it too late.

Thanks for that link.

Yes they do seem to only be reffered to in a tangental (sorry not sure there is such a word!) sort of way.

However this coming Tuesday (I think) 4th December on BBC Radio 4's Making history there should be a short iece about the MTC.
