In Forczyk´s " Moscow 1941 " it is mentioned:

" Two panzer divisions- the 2nd and 5th - had just arrived at the front after re-equipping in France and started Typhoon at full strength in equipment and manpower."

Then

in Helmut Günther´s " Hot motors and cold feet "

" The 5th panzer division , which had been intended for Africa, marched through Moshaisk. The vehicles still had the light brown camouflage paint of the tropical units."

So anyone know from other sources if Hitler´s original idea truly was to send the division to DAK?
