186th Infantry info & patch ID needed
Hi, I'm new here. My dad served in the Army 186th. Infantry Regiment, 41st Division, the Jungleers. He spent time in Australia and front line in New Guinea, then later trained rookies stateside at Ft. McClellan, AL. I am wondering two things:
1. Any info. about the 186th would be welcomed, movements, positions, dates, etc.
2. On dad's uniform is an unidentified patch. On the left shoulder is the patch of the 41st, the sunset. On the other shoulder is a round patch, divided equally in three vertically. The left third is solid blue, the middle yellow or gold, and the right is red. I would like to know if any of you can identify that patch?
Thanks for your help. This is a very interesting site!

It sounds like the U.S. ARMY TRAINING AND DOCTRINE COMMAND patch.

Sorry Lefty. The Patch is for the Replacement and School Command. It didn't become TRADOC till after the war .

The Replacement and School Command was the sub-command of the Army Ground Forces which ran all of the ground forces replacement training centers in the country.

And yes Lefty. He would have worn the Replacement and School Command stateside while instructing.
