Default Why did the RUssian not build APC

I know very little about vehicles, but I do know that the Russians didn't really manufacture there own APC carriers. Was this because this would get in the way of tank production?

Also, I am hearing they used land leased American Vehicles? If so, what were they?

Thanks,
B-17engineer

As far as lend lease vehicles, just about everything in the US rolling stock, from jeeps to tanks, 3/4 ton trucks, Deuce and halfs, M2 & M3 half tracks.

The Limeys sent their vehicles also.

Who needs an APC when you can stick this many men on a T34, point West, and shout 'Thataway!'.

More sensibly, It always seems in the 'hotter' periods that only the Full tracked tanks could keep up with the combination of speed of advance & conditions in the East. Trucks and lighter vehicles struggled, available APCs like the halftracks were far less efficient than simply getting Infantry to hitch a ride on some armour when it was available.
On the production side; a combination of doctrine (perhaps political as well as military), situation, and sense, would mean that any factory that could produce armoured vehicles would be more use to the war making Tanks than other more specialist armour?

Cheers,
Adam.

They had APCs, they were the most produced thing, and had a turret

I guess just because of the fighting style it wasn't completely necessary. But they sure used the ones given from the Allies during the Lend Lease program.
