I am doing a project for school, and I need some good internet sources on the battle of Stalingrad in generals. I will just thank you in advance for any services provided, since I am sure you all just full of compulsion to enlighten me.

So thanks!

Try the Wikipedia entry for the Battle of Stalingrad
also, if you have time, or are interested in the siege, I suggest Anthony Beevors book titled "Stalingrad". Did you know the Russians lost almost twice the ammount of troops at Stalingrad alone, than the United states lost during the entire war? Over 750,000, more than the total dead (both north and south) for the Civil war!

Alot of the time, the American efforts during WWII are touted and highlighted, and for the most part, Americans remain ignorant of the Soviet sacrifice. It is estimated that the Soviets had 10,600,000 dead, 6,600,000 KIA and MIA, 5,200,000 soldier taken prisoner, of which 3,600,000 died in captivity. Compare that to the 200,000+ American dead, and you can see what I mean!

I dont mean in any way, shape or form to belittle the sacrifices made by our country or any of the other countries who fought the Axis powers; my intent is to merely show you the sheer, wholesale death that ocurred on the Eastern front.
