Default SS Blackfalcon??

Hi all, I am trying to get some information about the SS. I have looked everywhere but not finding anything. I was told that Hitler named groups of the SS after animals and am interested in specifically the Blackfalcon. Like I said I have found zero about it and anything would be great, even if its just that you have heard this too. Thank you all so much!

By groups do you mean combat groups such as regiments or Divisions, or political groups? Because I have never heard of this, The Germans named many combat Divisions as Totenkopf, Liebestandarte, Das Reich, and so on.

Waffen SS or Allgemeine SS? I have never heard of any units named after animals by Hitler or anyone else. The closest would have been the "Tiger" Legion or Free India Legion.

I also have not heard of this. Then again, I know more about the Waffen SS and not the Allgemeine SS or Polizei.

OK thank you, I dont know if it was the Waffen SS or the Allgemeine SS. My family is pretty tight mouthed about it and I have only gotten that little bit of information. I am thinking my mom had misunderstood about the Black falcon.

If 'Black Falcon' in German is 'schwarzer falke' (?) could it just be a corruption of 'schwarzer volk' which might be just the kind of nickname the 'General' SS could earn with their black uniforms.
Even perhaps no corruption required as 'Black Falcons' seems equally fine as a colloquial term?

It sounds like there's an interesting family tale in there somewhere Rememberthem?
Any more scraps of detail at all?

Cheers,
Adam.

Im sure there are many interesting tales in my family lol. Im just not privy to them. I really cant think of anything else. Im getting a little frustrated. I understand why I am not being told , yet on the other hand I think I should be. I do know that my Opa kept a journal for a long time and that my dad has it. It has stories about his life in it. That I know I wont see. Even if I could I cant speak/read German. I think this is becoming an obsession lol.

I can definitely relate. My grandfather's journal is something I have been wanting to get my hands on. I am conspiring with my cousins on this. I can only remember stories that my grandfather told me but I was too young to ask intelligent questions.

Hey Rememberthem,
I know how you feel, my Father has only just recently started to related his stories of the war.
Hopefully you can convince them to share their experiences with you, otherwise they fade into the past, forever!
Good luck!
