Photo of aircraft carrying MAD gear
Anyone come across pictures of any aircraft carrying WW 2 magnetic anomoly detection equipment? I have a drawing of the gear as used by the US. It looks like a small wingtip tank. But, I have yet to find a photo of an aircraft carrying it.

Re: Photo of aircraft carrying MAD gear
I thought MAD was post WW2, the first plane to use it being the P2V ???
But

MAD. Magnetic Anomaly Detection was successfully tested 21Oct 1941. This was used by an airplane to reveal the magnetic field created by the metal in a submerged submarine to allow an attack with depth charge or torpedo. The first detection of a submerged enemy submarine by the use of MAD gear was made by PBY Catalinas on a MAD barrier patrol of the approaches to the Strait of Gibraltar 28Feb44.

By the way Jan, the correct spelling is "anomaly", your search might work better

Yes, Za. I'm noted that, but I'm worry for an personal matter and not correct it. The spelling of the Search machine of Google do it for me automatically.....
¡Ah! Do you live today in "Bonanza"?

No, but I like this pic of Hoss Cartwright. It looks like he's holding a f**t!
