Free French: Sept 1944 combat
For a potential book, I am trying to piece together WWII experiences of my wife's father, whose journey began in 1939 Galicia and included forced labor in Germany (until escape when during a bombing of a factory). At one point he apparently joined up briefly with FFI, and received a commendation for combat between August 24 and October 2 1944 -- specifically in towns/villages of "Combeau-Fontaine, Maillevillers Melun, Ceuvelle-les-Scey and Contracourt."
Most FFI book and other material I've come across thus far seems to be heavily focused on Paris liberation as climax or conclusion. Could any of you good folks suggest or otherwise steer me toward books, monographs or other material that might shed light on FFI involvement in combat action during the cited time period and locations? I would be most grateful.
