Could somebody link me to some places where it tells the stories of Veterans of both sides meeting each other and becoming friends? Or Veterans doing public apologies to people and places which they touched someway.

It would make me happy if somebody could.

I know the 36th Infantry Division Association had the 1st Fallschirmjäger at one of their reunions some years ago in Texas. I'll see if there is anything in their newsletters or quarterly journal about it. I do know from some of the US veterans (my father was in the Quartermaster company, signals section), that it was somewhat bumpy as there were still bad feelings from both sides.

Try under individual battle anniversaries.. .Midway, Pearl and the Bulge for instance. Especially the later ones.

I know that members of the 1st Canadian Infantry Division veterans have had a number of friendly meetings with German veterans, at memorials in Italy. They exchanged souveniers and took photos of the combined groups.
