Question Armed Forces gold ring question

I have my dad's gold ring that says United States Armed Forces on it with a picture of an eagle. I tried to take a picture to post here but the flash glared off the gold. I am wondering when these rings were distributed and to whom? Were they given, boughten?
Thanks,

Default Re: Armed Forces gold ring question

Most likely a "private purchase ".

Even the " West Point " Annapolis " and " US Air Force " officers graduation rings are bought, NOT issued.

In the WW2 era, many jewelers made up "sweetheart " rings, bracelets, and broaches, with unit insignia on them, for sale to military buyers, to give to their girlfriends or wives. Some guys also bought personal "identity bracelets " for themselves, to wear in action.
