Re: Lerenfort "Big Hole"
I suspect the first rule among those that know where this particular big hole is; is that one doesn't talk about the big hole. The web can provide though .
Cheers,
Adam.

Re: Lerenfort "Big Hole"
I think Adam's comment is right. I've done some internet searching myself and cannot find the exact location.
Archaeologists of any era will jealously safeguard the exact locations of their 'finds' for obvious reasons ; if I were to say on here, for instance, 'there's a field full of Lancaster bomber bits just up the road from my house'* I'd expect to see bus-loads of guys with shovels appearing within the week. I even had serious thoughts before posting the location of my rifle-relic find at Falaise just recently......
( * There is NOT a field full of Lancaster bomber bits...... )

Re: Lerenfort "Big Hole"
the "big hole" is undoubtly a nickname for a large finding place. No wonder that the real name and place is kept secret. However why focus on this one: there are so many other places. Even if I spent looking my entire life I wouldn't have enough time (or place) to deal with the potential finds.

Re: Lerenfort "Big Hole"
Glad you eventually found your place yourself. I wish you will find your treasure. Normandy is a good place to look around.

Re: Lerenfort "Big Hole"
Well I wouldnt dig too deep in Normandy...
... I spoke to a French Bomb Disposal Team last time I was there and the place is littered with stuff.
Be VERY careful with what you touch...
I know from experience having found an unexploded 3" mortar shell near hill 112.
...and fat chance of finding a helmet... Though I did get a gas mask canister a few years back.
