any info on C.E.R.U.?
We're looking into any other information about C.E.R.U, the Canadian Engineers Reinforcement Unit. My great uncle ( I also wrote about in "Top Secret D Day info needed") was always stationed with that "unit" but we can find no information regarding it. We have his Canadian war record and from April 43 to September 44 he was based out of C.E.R.U. Since he had previous mining experience from Canada he was labelled as a "miner B", Before D Day he was sent on numerous "deep Well Drilling "courses and became an "engineer fitter class 11 and also labelled a "Pioneer C'. From other sources we believe that he may have been loaned to the Americans and possibly used in Operation Pluto..the under the sea pipeline used after D Day. We are trying to narrow down the locations along the south coast of England and where he would have been stationed. I have found only one reference that C.E.R.U was based out of Guillimond Barracks in Cove Hampstead. We were also wondering if anyone had information of American pipe fitting involvement, private or military locations in operation Pluto where he also could have stationed with. Any locations/ideas would be greatly appreciated.
