Default Knights Cross

The last year I have been reading a lot about the German side in WW2. At first I thought the knights Cross was the equivalent to the Medal of Honor. But in the US most Medal of Honor winners die in the act. Only a handful usually survive. Is there another medal that was equivalent during the war, or as I heard they just made it easier to get due to moral issues. Also what is the Blue Max?

Thanks
Dave

I'll bet there are only about a dozen people in the entire world who have heard of google.
Here is what came up
First World War.com - Encyclopedia - The Pour le Merite Medal
Orders, decorations, and medals of Nazi Germany - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Default Re: Knights Cross

Hello Dave, in the US, the Medal of Honor is the highest military award as was the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross for Nazi Germany. Criteria may have been different between the two awards as well as how the military leaders in the two countries viewed the submissions. For example, if a German pilot shot down 20, he was awarded the Knights Cross. Now I don't know and I don't think that the same goes for US pilots. Personally, I think that there have been many more feats that were deserving of the MOH. Look at how many Silver Stars were awarded and I would say that there would be some that deserved the MOH.
