Searching is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Can You Help Me?

Can anyone help me on my fact finding mission?

I have an original photo from a deceased U.S. Navy Sailor's album that I need help to identify the individuals in. The first is of (I'm almost positive) Joseph Stalin with 2 other Soviet Officers. The faces and uniforms of the officers are fairly clear and the photo was taken at close proximity of all 3 men. I have searched hundreds of web sites looking for badges, collar devices and pins that match what these 2 officers are wearing on their uniforms. I can't match any of them! I've asked for help at many Russian war memorabilia sites and no one can help me. I'm hoping if I can match the pins, I can learn the rank and position of these men and find out who they are (were). It's even possible someone might recognize their faces.

I feel the history is important. My email is 2jonimiller@gmail.com. If any of you want to see the photo, I can email it to you since I'm not sure if the attachment as posted properly here. It doesn't show up when I preview.

Can anyone help?

welcome to the forum. The one of the left is a high rank officer with many decorations including the interallied victory medal from WWI .

Aren't they wearing the US Marine Corps globe and anchor? And aren't at least 2 of them in Marine Corps uniforms?

The Japanese guy in the back leads me to think this was taken somewhere in the Pacific Theater.

Marine corps uniforms , good show army man . I recognize the special cut now. Here's a picture for confirmation. I got mistaken by the uniform cut for a while and first thought they were British but they are U.S Marines. I will edit my previous post.

Are you sure you asked about this on other Russian memorabilia forums? I'd imagine that any soviet historian would realize immediately that your attached photo is most certainly not Stalin. I'd guess they are all Americans, possibly post WWI. The coat on the man in the center does look Russian, but look at the lower sleeves, that smells American to me.

EDIT: I just noticed the asian man in the background with what looks like a rickshaw. I'd bet these three guys are US Marines stationed in Shanghai prior to WWII.

I would tend to agree with you Otto. The man in the center does not look llike Joe Stalin (to me anyway).
