Question History of Sports in the Air During WW2

Ok, so I'm member of a online sports journal and I accidentally let my "big boss" (herein refered to as BB) know that I love flying, World War 2 and sports!

So BB chooses to be mean and asks for a article on the history of Airplane races during the World War 2 Era. As you can imagine, it's a very badly documented history.

I have been looking for almost a month now on information and I can't find anything. So I'm asking you, the passionate, for help to creating this atricle.

As a thank you for your help, I will be writing out a lists of names (Forum name only) from the people who helped me (but of corse if you do not wish to be named I will respect that) at the end of my article and I shall give the website adress for all of you to be able to see it.

Now BB asked for many specific things and here is a list of the items that he would like to be in my article:

-Aircrafts used (custom aircrafts or modified ones)
-Pilots
-Tracks
-Results
-Any other cool tidbit that people might be interesed in

So I hope you can help me and do note that BB did not give me a deadline.

Thank you again!!

I doubt there were any races during the war. I know there were some prior to the war. The Italians were very involved and I believe the Supermarine Spitfire made its appearance at such a race. Have to do some digging

Well I apreciate any help anyone can offer! And note that these races dont have to be specifically between 1939 to 1945, just in the general era!
