Default German Dog Tag Question

First post, so I hope this is in the right section....

Anyway, I have a German Dogtag from WWII, that I bought in Bastogne in the summer of 2007. I had intended to add pictures but I don't have it on any photo sharing sight so I guess I'm SOL.

The text reads
"23180
Rek.Kp/Flg.Ers.Batl.XII"
The the same text is repeated upside down on the bottom half of the dog tag.
The most I can make out of it is Kp is probably "Kompanie" and my guess is "Batl. XII" would be the 12th battalion.
Is there anyway of identifying the unit, where it fought, and who this dog tag belonged to? If it's authentic?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You

KP is for Kompanie, Flg is for Flieger-which means he was in some Luftwaffe unit. Ers Batl means training and or replacement battalion, XII I THINK means from which Wehrkries he is a replacement from. Wehrkries XII is located @ Wiesbaden and the commander of said Wehrkries XII as of 1942 was: General Albrecht Steppuhn who was 63 yrs old at that time.

Flieger means something to do with Flight. Such as Fighter Pilots, Flying Observers yadda yadda yadda. Erich is better at all things Luftwaffe, than I am ;-))
