Default 514 Squadron Waterbeach 29/12/1944

I am seeking help in tracing anyone who has memories or information relating to my husband's uncle who died on the 29 December 1944 at Waterbeach when a bomb exploded when being loaded or removed from a Lancaster.

Geoffrey Graham Hayden was one of 9 that died in this incident. He was 20 and came from Holt in Norfolk and was educated at Gresaham School there. He was in the RAF VR and I think he worked with Radar. His number was 1863381.

My mother in law was kept very much in the dark about what he did and how he died. Her parents were trying to protect her at that time. They were deeply affected by Geoff's death and it is now that my eldest daughter is the same age as Geoff and I have a bit of time on my hands that I would like to help my mother in law fill in the gaps she has relating to Geoff.

So if anyone out there knew him, has any info relating to how he died or what he did at Waterbeach I would love to hear from them. Any info or memories of him would be great.

Cheers
Frances/Path Finder
