I have no idea if I remember this rightly or just totally imagined it but I can't seem to find any reference to plans for building a giant beer hall?
Can anyone shed any light on this?

I believe you are thinking of the proposed "Great Hall", which would have been built in the new capital city of Germania. This would be the new name for Berlin when the city was "remade" after the war.
It wasn't a "beer hall" exactly, perhaps you were associating/transposing Hitler's rise to power using beer halls as speaking centers, with the computer generated concepts of that monstrocity? I did find this for you howerver.
The building that best illustrates Hitler's megalomania is the so-called Volkshalle (People's Hall). Around 320 meters (350 yards) in height and covered with a giant dome, it would have been the largest domed building in the world — able to accommodate 180,000 people at once.
....According to Keil, however, the building's size would have led to certain problems: "With all 180,000 seats occupied, the condensed breath of the people would have accumulated in the dome and caused a rainfall."

At least that is the one I think you are remembering.
