Default The Scheldt

HI All

I moved to Holland about a year ago and am doing some research into the are I live.

One question : The Scheldt Estuary ... I know that there were German positions in the north on Walcherem Island but did they have positions on the other side of the estuary in the Breskens area? Or was this allied territory?

Thanks

you tube scheldt estuary wwii - Google Videos

I will be there in May 2010... Not realizing that my Dad fought there, I have very hazy recall of him speaking about the horrible conditions which were brought forward as I watched the youtube video of the Canadian Veteran saying how if you were wounded you would probably drown....

Statement in Wikpedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Scheldt "The Allies finally cleared the port areas on November 8, but at a cost of 12,873 Allied casualties (killed, wounded, or missing), half of them Canadians.[3]"
