Default Island Hopping

Hi All,

The Island hopping campaign began with Guadalcanal and then Tarawa and ended with Iwo Jimo followed by Okinawa. Then there were quite a few in between, including passed up islands that were of no strategic significance.

I've been trying to understand all of these islands and could use a listing that puts them all into a correct time and space perspective.

Would somebody be able to give me this listing?

Thanks in advance and I hope my questions are not too mundane since I consider myself minimally knowledgeable about World War II.

There is an excellent summary of the Pacific island-hopping campaign at this site, including the dates, forces involved, and reasons why each island was chosen, at this site;
