Hey

I have (or am about to) get involved with a Veteran Program with the Red Cross. I will interview Vets from World War I (though i doubt any are alive) World War II, Vietnam, Korea, etc. I was wondering if i could get access to the Veteran Section to see if there are any WWII Veterans in my area so that i could possible interview them.

Thanks.

Last I heard--there were appx 3,000++ American ww1 vets still living. I heard this about a year ago. The last ww1 Belgian vet passed away a few years ago. I dont know how many German, British, Canadian, Austrailian, New Zealander, Italian etc vet are still around, I heard I think Germany still had around 300 or so ww1 vets still around. Although I can't think of the address, there is a website that you can use to look up WWII veterans by hometown!!! I found it by using the dogpile search engine.

Got it- http://ww2.vet.org/ Great site, although you never know how up to date it is. It could lead to some rough inquiries if the vet you tried to contact is now dead.
