Hey guys, thought I would rear my ugly head once again and post down some old pics I had dug up recently... These are all reenactments, and I am in each shot (if only a speck in the distance).

Enjoy.

Nice photographs, your unit looks very good, particularly the vehicles and artillery. I really should get more of my event photos up, if anyone is interested check out:
www.12thss.com
Because of the nature of the show many members of the public turn up wearing '40s kit so if anyone looks 'farby' they probably are not my mob, of course....

Thanks for posting the pics, Modus - some of the guys even have realistic 'fed up' expressions !

BTW what's the halftrack - is it a SdKfz 250 ?

That is what I was thinking Martin, those blokes actually look cold, wet and as though they don't want to be there.

This is a combination of Midwest United States units.
2.Panzer (Armor)
116. Panzer (Truck in foreground)
1.SS (FG's and assorted infs not pictured, R75 as well)

At the time, I was a member of the 2.Panzer Division - the Hetzer is one of their vehicles (very top of first photo, obscured by sdkfz 251). My section of that unit broke off about 6 months later to form 25. Panzer Grenadier Division. Whilst a part of 2. Panzer we were the Schwere Zug and we brought all the fun personal toys to the field - HMGs, Mortars, Bazookas, and the IG (75mm IG). When we left the unit we took our Sdkfz 251 (pictured) with us, but I was forced to leave the IG behind (I was the gun captain).

2. Panzer is still quite strong fielding the following:
1x Hetzer
2x Sdfkz 251/Ds
1x Opel Blitz
1x 75mm PaK
1x 75mm le18 IG
1x Ku"bel
And only about 40 guys!

My unit (www.25panzergrendiv.com) has the following:
1x Sdkfz 251
1x Ford Maultier
1x 1944 Ford G8T (this is my newest purchase)
2x Motorcycle side cars
1x Puch Dispatch Mtcl
1x Motorcycle

Given some time, I'll snatch up some more.

Well, they would be good pictures but they've got Adam in them ... which really detracts from the overall quality.

Good thing I'm not in them or they'd be completely worthless ...

Modus--thanks for the explanation. I'm not into reenacting but--it is something I do have a growing interest in.

Maybe one of these years I could join a group--looking more like Curly of the Three Stooges, in uniform than anything.

Some great photos there modus. I especially like the b&w effect, it makes them look good, especially because everyone there seems to have shown up with good impressions.

Man what I wouldn't give to ride around in a german half-track for an evening!

Hey Modus, I can only imagine how cool that was for you to be part of a reinactment. I envy you, lol. Great pictures, I really enjoy looking at stuff like that, thank you.

As I dig up more fun pics, I'll be sure to post them.

One comes to mind - I've got a pic of a 2. Panzer Armored column from about 8+ years ago that is just unbelievable. We're talking Sdkfz 222, Hetzer, 2x Halftracks (if not more), and trucks and softskins. Just ridiculous.

Too bad 2.Panzer has bad blood in its politics (no offense 2.Panzer members [not talking political idealogies, here, more along the lines of group dynamics and club organization]).

In a word, WOW, you lucky %$&%&*£$. The most we get at most shows is a motorbike, occaisionally a half track. My russian group even get a T34 from time to time.

Yeah, the midwest in my opinion is the hottest area for WWII reenacting - we've got manpower, money, and space.

2. Panzer at one time had a StuG III, as well. Unbelievable!

My unit right now has got some good guys (evident here, where a few participate), and we're making progress on our restoration projects. My personal goal for the next 6 months is to get the G8T truck restored to a level that I'm complacent with. After that, the plan is to purchase a Russian ZIS-3 Divisional gun. This should add strength to the Russians reenacting in the Midwest, as well as an interesting "captured" piece for my German impression (and they were used, as far as I can tell).

Once that is good to go, I'll move on to the next project, which will either be a T-34 or a German SPG (Marder or the like).

I live, sleep, and breathe artillery. My grandfather was in charge of a battery of towed 155s attached to the 3ID in ETO. Lately for reenactments I've been doing a "Funker" impression, which has been great fun (nothing like only carrying a pistol and getting hit in the head by dirt from pyro while not wearing a helmut), and it'll do until I get another "toy" that I can have fun with. Hopefully we'll have our half track running again soon. We finally got a clutch plate all we need to do is put it back together.Adam, I'm sorry I wasn't there on saturday to get blown up with you by kurt. I agree that the midwest is the place for ww2 reenacting. Rennselaer is my version of graceland. There is nothing more fun then playing on a farm with concrete bunkers and armored vehicles. Well its getting late and I have class tomorrow so I think I'll end this post now.

Excellent pics, dude! Reminds me of the official US Signal Corps pics!

I can imagine now how somebody I know strolled through some woods hald drunk, half with an hang-over, and thought he walked through some time-portal when he came across a 'bunch of Germans who spoke damn good English and who were waiting "for some counter-attack"'. He thought he was experiencing his own "Final Countdown" until he realised these were reenactors...

How does one become apart of such things? I've never seen or heard of any around where i live despite there being American Revolution Reenacments and Civil War ones around where i live - (Jockey Hollow - aka Where George W spent the harshest Winter of the war - is my backyard) (G-Burg - an hour down the road from where i go to college) - but no WWII. I am a big enthusists and own my late grandfathers Log Book etc from the war (he was a Bombardier in a Lancaster for the UK Airforce)
