Hey there guys, I know it's been a while, but at least now I have both of my arms *somewhat* normal
....still quite a bit to do, but we're getting there. Anyways, while working at my new job, I've had the incredible honor of meeting and befriending a gentleman by the name of Alfred Maslankowski. He's 83 and a German WW2 vet who saw action in Belgium, France, and Italy to name a few. In our talks, he's told me that many of the German soldiers did not agree with the systematic execution of the Jews, but he and many others wanted them out of the country. I'm wondering if anyone else knows of people like this? Just by looking at Al, you would never know that he had been through so much, done so much. But it's had an astounding effect on him and in turn myself. He's told me that he has recieved 6 medals, but hasn't told me what they are. I'll be sure to let you all know as I find out, as he doesn't mind me telling anybody about this. As he put it, "I am proud to have fought for Germany, for my country and for my family" So, in turn, he welcomes questions from any of you.
Also, does anybody know where I can find information about the German units??? he's looking at trying to get in touch with people and I don't have the slightest idea where to start. Any help is greatly appreciated.
