The T-44 was basically an experiment but it was the forerunner of the T-54 and T-55 series. More pics coming as soon as I get them sorted.

Looks like a very nice trip,
That pic (post 22) is indeed apparently a T44 , though I appreciate some confusion due to the very similar turret to the 34/85 (don't think the barrel looks long enough to be the rare 100mm is it?).
One small thing Chuikov, I'd hardly call a production run of c.2000 vehicles that served in one form or another into the 70s experimental .
Nice page (as ever) from 'The Russian Battlefield':
The Russian Battlefield T44

Cheers,
Adam.

Thank you for your photos and comments, Chuikov64th.

There is surely an immense amount of pride in the achievements done and honour gained to build such monuments.

The origin of your nickname is obvious.

Yes Von I was just reading about it a little more and there apparently a lot of them made and used in a lot of different applications. I think maybe I was confused by the 122mm upgunned version. Considering the number of uses that tank was put too it is probably a certain version of the T-44, the turret just seemed out of place to me.

Cheers to you Chuikov. Been confused by the 44 turret before and now registered that, at least on the left hand side, it has that bulge that looks like it's chewing a sweet which isn't present on the 34/85. Handy recognition feature for the list.

Na zdorovje, (??)
