Weekend in Nuremberg....
Just back from a long weekend in Nuremberg.
Plenty to do and see....the atmosphere of the Christkindlemarkt....
The Gluhwein stalls.....
Delicious Nuremberger Bratwurstl......
Mmmmmm !
Oh...and as a dedicated WWII Forums enthusiast, I couldn't go away without photographing.....

Afraid not...I stayed firmly behind the camera this time.....
Here's another view of one of the 'Cathedral of Ice' searchlight towers at the Zeppelin Field....original fittings still on the roof : -
And a view of the Nazi's never-completed Congress Hall.....
This building truly is a monumental folly....with the winter sun in the right direction, here's a view of it taken from the Nuremberg castle ramparts about 3 miles away......

Note the stall holder in this photo, he is observing the German christmas tradition of Verschleiß eine Lampe Schatten or wear a lamp shade...
Great photographs, Martin.

Re: Weekend in Nuremberg....
( Sigh ! ) This is supposed to be a WWII thread.....
OK, here's the old square with the Castle up above : superb traditional restaurant ( zum Albrecht-Durer-haus ) in the centre, my wife just visible on the right well-wrapped-up against -4 degrees cold.....

ARCHIVES ??? As it was, I managed to get to the Reichsparteitag grounds, Hitler's hotel, a junkshop which sells militaria...any more and my long-suffering wife may have resorted to extreme measures !

Re: Weekend in Nuremberg....
Great pictures Martin ! Do they use the Congress Hall for anything today. Seems a shame to not use such a huge building.

Speaking as a Texan, this is by far the best photo. Mmmm, mmmm, good. Brings back memories even though Scwenk(sp?) and jagerschnitzel are my personal favorites. A Job well done Martin. Kudos.

I thought the Hill Country was over run by Deutschlanders back in the 1800s.
TA, I had forgotten that you were one of them.

I'm already getting negative points for the accent. Martin is English so when in London................I tried some Northern slang. Geeez, this is a tough crowd. Where's the check.
