Default German cemetry in Lommel.

Öffne dein Herz der Ehrfurcht vor dem Offer Unseren Toten...

For each cross 2 soldiers.. in total 38.563 ww2 casualties and 542 from ww1.

Little quiz question! Who knows these 3 guys?
Very well known, they where burried in the same order as in their execution...

Were they buried adjacent to each other, or were their graves intermingled with the rest of the cemetary.

Is there any chance that yourself or someone you know would be able to take photos of some of the Luftwaffe Graves in this cemetery, I would be most grateful.

Bloody hell that's massive.
I've been to hundreds (?) of war cemeteries but not that one.
Never knew it was that big.
I've been to Neuville-Saint-Vaast German Cemetery which has Great War Dead, 44,830 burials.
It didn't seem as big as Lommel looks.

From which graves exactly you want pictures? I'm not from around there but a close friend of my lives overthere in that region... so who knows.

Sad to see all of those crosses. I wish that some of the Generals and all of the politicians, could have seen these for what they are-instead of just pins on a map.

Hi Wessex, one of the saddest things about what you say above-is that they (the politicians, that is) had not learned anything from that experiance.

Dear 272,

I would like the graves of Kampfgeschwader 30, which there are 16 on my list all killed in 1944, if you can help, I would be very grateful.

I can ask a friend of mine, but I don't think the units of those who lay burried overthere are written on there graves, I also do not know if there is a list of this.
But I'll ask my friend to look things over. Give it some time and I will let you know!

PS, those 16 KIA, they all lay burried in Lommel?

Yes, the 16 Luftwaffe crew members are all buried in Lommel.

I have the grave numbers if this is any help and can send you the list.
