was wondering what happened to the pictures that have been removed.would like to mention that the pictures of john, the one in uniform was from bootcamp and the other one was made one month before he died. there are 2 other ones that can be clicked on to. the one of the jeep , john is the one seated. the other of those was made several years ago. his middle initial l, is love . that is his middle name.and how true! does anyone know what the initials e.r.b. stand for on the back of the bracelet ? from john's daughter ninamarie

Originally Ed posted the pics at Photobucket, then linked to them from here. Last week, he moved the pictures around on Photobucket, breaking the links. He said he will re-link them.

We have no idea who e.r.b. is. Was thinking maybe it was friend of his in the service.

With permission of John's daughter Ninamarie, i add these 2 documents to this thread.
I made them big so they can be read by anyone.
They do not need any explanation, they speak for themselves!
Thanks again Ninamarie!

Edwin, what does the plaque say? The one with the flowers and -what I am assuming is- the statue of the Blessed Mother?

great pitures. Sorry to hear some of the pictures were lost durng your computer crash.

The plaque says:

"you mother of pity, reach your hand upon us, whereever road we may be on throughout our earthly life".

(This a prayer to Maria, but there is also a play on words. Irdlich = earth vs paradise, but also earthly = muddy refering to the trenches. )

No problem, and there will be soon more to follow.
I received pictures from the Page Fam. who where taken by John during his wartime period in Europe.
I'm waiting to get them scanned at a friend, so i can post them in this thread!

Last week i received a package by mail send by a daughter of John L. Page and it included several pictures and dokuments concerning John during his WWII period.
First of all i'm very grateful for the willingness of the Page Fam. to share these with me and to give me the permission to share it with you all.
They will get a special spot in my collection!
They told me that more pictures are to follow but that they have to sort them out first, although i'm already overwelmed by their gifts!
And i can not mention Keystone Two-Eight to much for making this al happening.
Here are some of the dokuments and pictures:

John L. Page Jr. about 2,5 years old:

Little Mountain, South Carolina where he grew up:

His first car, bought brandnew before the war:

John L. Page / Camp Wheeler, Georgia / Feb. 22-1942:

A poem glued by John in his book from the 4th Div. / 22nd Reg.:

Tank stops in the Siegfried Line / Germany -1945-:

"I was here with the 4th Div.":

John L. Page / Hitler's yacht on the Rhine / Germany 1945.
He had written on the back "That's me in the picture, not Hitler":
